March for Garment Workers during the Women’s March in NYC

Join SENSE of SHELF and SUSTAIN during this year’s Women’s March in NYC to march for garment workers! Together, we can bring attention to the injustices women face in the garment industry.

  • The textile and garment industry employs 75 million people and ~80% are women (Source: Fashion Revolution)
  • $130BN is funneled from the fashion supply chain toward modern slavery, that’s the most from any industry other than tech (Source: Global Slavery Index)
  • In 2017, the U.S. Dept of Labor, Wage and Hour division filed 182 cases involving 2,356 employees with a recorded $2.8MM in wage violations (Source: U.S. Department of Labor)
  • 60% of garment workers in India and Bangladesh have experienced harassment, verbal abuse or physical abuse (Source: Fashion Revolution)
